Malcolm Young, Chairman & Chief Executive, The Wilky Group Ltd
Malcolm's entire career has been spent in commercial property development and investment. It began in 1964 with a well known London firm of chartered surveyors. Then, aged 22, he became national lettings manager for the development subsidiary of a major property company. There followed periods as head of the industrial department for a leading London surveying practice, and head of acquisitions for a London PLC property company.
Since joining the Wilky Group as Property Director in 1973 he has built up its development and industrial activities. In the early '90s he was seconded to BAA/McArthur Glen as UK Joint Managing Director to help establish it as Europe's leading factory outlet operator.
As Managing Director of Wilky Property Holdings plc, as well as Group Chairman and Chief Executive, he remains responsible for all the Group's property interests.
Malcolm is Interim Chair for the Local Enterprise Partnership Enterprise M3's Land & Property Group, a key forum for planning, development and investment issues, having previously been chairman of the former Hampshire Economic Partnership's Land & Property Task Group. He is also vice chairman of Enterprise First, the South East's leading enterprise agency.
Malcolm is a member of the CBI South East Regional Council and sits on the City & Regions Panel.
He is also a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.
